Biography of Thomas Noonan
Managing Director of Transaction Linguistics, LLC

Tom has spent most of his career in the banking and financial services industry in a number executive and senior account management positions. Presently he is working as Managing Director of Transaction Linguistics, LLC, a company he founded in 2012. Based in Austin, TX, Transaction Linguistics is focused upon the corporate market, working with business executives whose job responsibilities require them to gain fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, or French.

Much of Tom’s career was spent with Citibank where he held senior positions in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, Manila, and Paris. He was Citibank’s senior executive officer for France and Monaco for five years. Subsequently, he held the same position for Citibank in the State of Florida.

For several years, based in New York, Tom was Senior Executive Officer for Citibank’s World Corporation Group in Latin America. During the Latin American debt crisis of the 1980’s Tom spent extended periods in Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, and Brazil.

He also worked for J.P. Morgan in their Latin America Division, and was President and CEO of Surfin, Ltd, the captive finance company in Latin America for DirecTV.

In total Tom lived and worked in Latin America for twelve years, of which six were in Brazil. He worked in Europe for five years, and in Asia for four.

For seven years he was President and CEO of BAC Florida Bank , the U.S. arm of the BAC Credomatic Group of Central America. Headquartered in Coral Gables, FL, BAC Florida Bank specializes in commercial lending, real estate lending, trade finance, and asset management done through its subsidiaries, BAC Florida Investments, and BAC Global Advisors. He is Past President of the Florida International Bankers Association, FIBA.

Originally from Los Angeles, Tom did both undergraduate and graduate studies at Yale University. While an undergraduate at Yale, he spent one year studying at the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil. He is an active recruiter for Yale for many years, especially among minority students. An accomplished linguist, Tom speaks French, Portuguese, and Spanish fluently. For several years he was Treasurer and Board Member of the Alliance Française of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
